Right now, we’re staring in the face of the oncoming fall. Perhaps school is about to start or has already started where you are. A new season is beginning which gives us all an opportunity for a new beginning.
Often times new beginnings are exciting, though sometimes they can be intimidating or overwhelming. I want to offer a challenge and also invite you to do a process with me. Winding down toward the final quarter of the year, 2017 is drawing to a close. You and I are looking at another year ending sooner than we might be ready for.
What are you going to do? Eight months of the year are nearly behind us. Have you made the kind progress you intended? Have you made progress at all? Have you, at any point during the year, been able to lock in on the new beginning you desire to see in your life? If you have, congratulations! If you haven’t, now is the time.
Here’s the process I mentioned earlier. Before the day is out, preferably right now while it’s fresh on your mind, but even if it’s before you climb into bed tonight, I’m going to ask you to get a blank sheet of paper from your printer, from a copier, wherever you can find a blank sheet of paper, free from any lines on it, even. I want you to take a few minutes and as you stare at your blank piece of paper, recognize you have within you the power to create your tomorrows, whatever you want, whatever you desire.
Pay close attention to this: God has great plans for your life. There are wonderful things in store for you. This season of your life should be and can be a breakout season for you and for your family.
Knowing and believing that, let’s go on to the next step. On your blank sheet of paper, write three things you are committed to framing in your heart as genuine, authentic expectations for what it is you will accomplish, what you will receive, what you will do and achieve this coming season. Write them down and be as specific as you need to be.
As an exercise going forward, take time every day (every week at the very least) to review your commitments. Write notes about them and journal from your heart. Hear – from God and from others – what it is you need to be doing. Get a coach. Get a group of people around you who can help you formulate the action steps necessary to make those dreams and those ideas a reality.
Don’t let the fear of the unknown scale you back in this. Step with confidence. Dream with desire. Truly let your excitement of your new beginning overshadow the doubts. Whatever you do, don’t stay where you are. Right now is an opportunity for you to create a brand new beginning. You can have and you can be whatever it is you desire to be.
I’ll say again, God has great plans for you. (Jeremiah 29:11) His plans for you are not for you to stay the same. His plans for you are not for you to remain exactly where you are and do the same things over and over and over again. His plans for you are for greatness. His plans for you are for influence and for leadership and for making an incredible impact in our world.
I hope this is encouraging you right now. Go higher. Go bigger. Do whatever you need to do to create the life that you want for you.
Let’s go after our brand new beginning!
